Inspection Setup

Use the Inspection Setup page to draw Regions of Interest (ROIs) on the Template Image to define key inspection areas, and group regions with similar appearances or failure modes into multiple Inspection Types.

Preview

The preview pane (on the left-hand side) displays the Template Image, not a live preview of the camera’s field of vision. To view a live preview from the camera, scroll down the page and select Live Preview Mode. To add or edit Inspection Types and Inspection Regions, ensure the live preview is not enabled.

ROI Labels: Toggle ROI labels on and off.

Inspection Types

+ Add Inspection Type: Click to create meaningful groups of ROIs that share some key characteristics. In the example above, one group contains all LEDs, and another contains all resistors. Click Edit to rename or delete the Inspection Type.

Inspection Regions

+ Add Inspection Region: Click to create a new ROI. Click and drag the ROI on the image to position it. Click on an ROI to resize, rotate, duplicate, or delete. Click Edit to rename the ROI and change the Inspection Type.

ROI Best Practices

When placing ROIs, it’s best to keep them tightly focused on only the essential areas for inspection. Including too much border or background could negatively impact the accuracy of training and model predictions.

Tip

You can click any ROI on the image panel to change its location, size, shape, orientation, delete, or even clone it.

Ignore Regions: Click to access a brush tool that can be used to ignore regions of the image so they are not used in the block. This is used to mask out unwanted details and focus the Inspection Region on clear, repeatable patterns. Click Finish to save.

Lock Region/Lock all regions: Click the lock icon to prevent ROIs from being edited or repositioned.

Live Preview Mode

Select to preview the ROIs live.
